You're reading: Ukrainian Foreign Ministry protesting Putin’s Sevastopol trip once again

The visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the city of Sevastopol violates the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

In particular, Ukraine considers this trip, “as well as other so-called trips by Russian officials to the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, a gross violation by Russia of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, a cynic and demonstrative disregard by Russia of the generally accepted norms of international law,” the ministry said in a commentary.

The Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol “are and will remain an integral part of Ukraine within its internationally-recognized borders,” the commentary says.

A relevant note of protest has been delivered to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the document said.
