You're reading: Ukrainian market of electric cars continues growth

Primary registrations of electric passenger cars (used and new) in Ukraine in January-September 2019 increased by 42 percent compared to the same period in 2018, to 5,081 units, commercial ones doubled, to 397 units, according to the Ukrautoprom association.

According to its data, as before, the bulk of electric vehicles that replenished the Ukrainian market was made up of previously used vehicles (91 percent).

The most popular vehicles were used cars under the age of five years (more than 52 percent of registrations), about 39 percent were cars aged five or more years, and new cars could not reach 9 percent.

The unattainable best seller in the electric car market is Nissan Leaf, of which almost 2,500 units were registered for January-September. Tesla Model S ranked second with 435 registered cars, while BMW i3 ranked third with 276 registrations.

Volkswagen e-Golf ranked fourth with 238 units, while it was followed by Fiat 500e with 225 cars.

Among commercial electric vehicles, Renault Kangoo Z.E has the best result with 363 cars, or more than 90 percent of sales in this segment of the automotive market.
