You're reading: Five killed in Ukraine army helicopter crash near Kramatorsk (UPDATED)

The Ukrainian military reported on March 25 that an MI-2 military helicopter crashed near the Ukrainian-controlled city of Kramatorsk, located some 700 kilometers southeast of Kyiv.

Reportedly, the helicopter crashed at 3 p.m. after hitting an electricity transmission line, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, a military spokesman, said three crew members and two passengers were on board the downed Soviet-designed MI-2.

The Defense Ministry said rescuers are evacuating bodies from the site.
