You're reading: Ukrainian military to take part in 19 multinational exercises in 2018

Ukrainian soldiers will take part in 19 multinational exercises this year, Acting Head of the Main Department for Military Cooperation and Peacekeeping Operations of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valentyn Levchyk has said.

“In accordance with a decree of the Ukrainian president, it is planned that in 2018 about 16,000 servicemen with weapons and military equipment will participate in 19 multinational exercises as part of Ukrainian Armed Forces units,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on May 31.

In particular, Ukrainian military is expected to participate in six multinational exercises on Ukrainian territory and 13 multinational exercises abroad, including two NATO exercises.

“Two exercises with the participation of Ukrainian units have already been conducted – Platinum Eagle 2018 (Romania) and Combined Resolve X (Germany). Three exercises are now continuing, in particular, multinational tactical exercises for the training of armed forces units as part of JMTG-U, Flaming Sword 2018 (Lithuania), and tank competition Strong Europe 2018 (Germany),” Levchyk said.

In addition, 28 officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have participated in seven international exercises at the level of staff officers or observers since the beginning of the year.
