You're reading: Ukrainian National Guard: Part of US aid already in Donbas zone

Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Yuriy Allerov during a meeting with Senior U.S. Defense Advisor Coyt D. Hargus and advisor to the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine for the security sector reform Lieutenant Colonel Yaroslav Pata have spoken about the progress of the reform, as well as about the use of the U.S. assistance.

“The National Guard of Ukraine continues to develop, including with the help of the U.S. This year we received substantial assistance from the U.S. and some of this assistance is already in Donbas zone. We continue the planned reforms and are becoming more efficient, more enduring and stronger,” the press service of the National Guard quoted Allerov as saying on August 29.

For his part, Hargus noted that the United States supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and the right of Ukrainians to choose their future. He also noted the significant progress in the reform of the defense forces of Ukraine.

Pata also noted that the National Guard of Ukraine is making progress in the public procurement area.

“The National Guard of Ukraine makes a lot of purchases through ProZorro, which gives the people of Ukraine an opportunity to see how their taxes are used,” he added.
