You're reading: Ukrainian ombudswoman to appeal to Zelensky, Putin to pardon some convicts

The Ukrainian and Russian human rights commissioners, Liudmyla Denisova and Tatyana Moskalkova, have agreed to appeal to the presidents of the two countries to pardon a number of convicts.

“We have discussed appealing to the leaders of our countries to consider several cases, those of our citizens and citizens of your country, to pardon them and use some other methods so that they be freed,” Denisova said at a joint press conference with Moskalkova on Tuesday.
