The Verkhovna Rada has approved the presidential bill (No.8497) on the establishment of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC).

According to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter, 265 MPs voted for the document at first reading and as a whole at a plenary meeting of parliament on Thursday.

This law is technical, but is necessary to launch the process of establishing the court.

The document states that the location, territorial jurisdiction and status of the HACC are determined by the relevant law on the High Anti-Corruption Court, which the Verkhovna Rada adopted on June 7 this year.

The law on the establishment of the HACC takes effect on the day following its publication.

In the same document, the parliament instructed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to take measures within its competence related to the creation of the HACC, whereas the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine should take measures needed to implement the law on the establishment of this court.
