You're reading: Ukrainian police, Red Cross discuss measures to seek people gone missing along contact line

Serhiy Kniazev, chief of the National Police of Ukraine, and members of a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine led by head of mission Alain Aeschlimann have discussed joint measures to establish the whereabouts of people who have gone missing along the contact line in Donbas.

The parties also discussed ways to assist the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine in identifying the murdered people whose relatives continue to reside in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian police chief also stressed the need to develop and maintain a legal basis governing the identification of the bodies of murdered Ukrainians with the help of DNA tests.

In there turn, members of the Red Cross delegation voiced their readiness to support such initiatives when they are to be passed into law.
