You're reading: Ukrainian Security Service searching Saakashvili’s Kyiv residence

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has confirmed that the residence of the New Forces Movement party leader and former head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Mikheil Saakashvili, was searched on Dec. 5 morning in the course of a criminal inquiry conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“The investigative procedures are actually taking place. SBU officers are providing investigative support to the criminal inquiry of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office,” SBU spokesperson Olena Hitlianska told Interfax-Ukraine.

She did not specify what criminal inquiry it was.

Interfax-Ukraine has learned from other sources that the criminal inquiry involved an officer of the previous Ukrainian administration.
