You're reading: Foreign ministers hold first phone talk in history of Ukraine-Senegal relations

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held the first in the history of bilateral relations a telephone conversation with Senegalese Foreign Minister Aisata Tal Sal, during which the creation of the Ukrainian-Senegalese Business Council was discussed, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service said on Aug.10.

“Ukraine views Senegal as one of the important partners in West Africa. We are interested in opening a new chapter in bilateral relations to bring them to a dynamic level. First of all, we are talking about such promising areas as trade and education,” Kuleba said.

In turn, his Senegalese counterpart supported the idea of ​​creating a Ukrainian-Senegalese Business Council to revitalize business contacts.

“The ministers agreed to work out with representatives of the business community specific proposals for starting the council’s activities in the near future,” the ministry said.

Kuleba also stressed Ukraine’s interest in increasing the number of Senegalese students, in particular, he proposed to establish direct contacts between specialized higher educational institutions in such areas of training as oil and gas production, as well as agriculture.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy invited Tal Sal to visit Ukraine as soon as the epidemic situation allows.
