You're reading: Ukrainian soldier killed by Russian sniper near Maryinka, two more injured in Talakivka shelling

Over the past day, one soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been killed in Donbas, two more defenders wounded, speaker of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Andriy Lysenko has reported.

“Yesterday during the shelling of our positions near Maryinka by the enemy sniper, one Ukrainian soldier was killed, two of our soldiers were injured in Talakivka in the Mariupol sector as a result of the enemy shelling,” Lysenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on August 8.

The speaker also said that the Luhansk sector was shelled by Russia-backed separatists with the usage of mortars in Stanytsia Luhanska, Novo-Oleksandrivka, Krymske and Triokhizbenka. A total of eight shelling attacks on Ukrainian army positions were recorded, half of which are mortar shells.
