Pechersky District Court of Kyiv has sentenced an employee of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine to six years in prison for cooperation with Russia-backed separatists, the press service of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has reported.

“From September 2014 to March 2015, while serving as an employee of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, knowing that Russia-backed separatist organization was created in Donetsk region, he assisted the activities of this terrorist organization through the collection and subsequent transfer to a representative of separatists of information concerning the activities of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, including state secrets,” the PGO’s media liaisons department reported on February 7.

The report notes that the court indicted the Ukrainian citizen and found him guilty under Part 1, Article 258-3 (the creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization), Part 1, Article 328 (disclosure of state secrets) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to six years in prison, depriving him of the right to hold certain positions for three years and stripping him of his military rank.
