Ukrainian, Turkish interior ministers discuss cooperation in policing, border control

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov faces numerous accusations of corruption and other crimes, which he denies. However, he has kept his job and faced no charges since his appointment in February 2014, given that he is arguably the second most powerful person in the country after President Petro Poroshenko.

Ukrainian and Turkish Interior Ministers, Arsen Avakov and Suleyman Soylu, have discussed cooperation in policing and the border sphere in Kyiv.

“We’ve met with Minister of the Interior of Turkey Suleyman Soylu. We cooperate in policing and the border sphere, as well as [there is cooperation] between the National Guard and the gendarmerie. New technologies, the latest military radio products, the exchange of experience. Our friendship is getting stronger!” Avakov wrote on Twitter on April 12 night.
