The State Automobile Roads Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Turkey’s Cengiz.

The press service of Ukravtodor reported on Feb. 21 that the main area of cooperation is the development of the Ukrainian part of the international transport corridor of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, namely the Nova Kakhovka-Mariupol route.

“On March 1, we will begin large-scale construction throughout the country. The government’s priority is to cover Ukraine with high-quality roads. Therefore, we will always support constructive initiatives, including, in particular, the memorandum of cooperation signed today,” the press service said, citing Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk.

Ukravtodor said that in the framework of cooperation it is about a possibility of large-scale repair work in Kherson, Zaporizhia and Donetsk regions. According to the agency, at present, the estimated cost of the project is Hr 9.1 billion.

“The memorandum of cooperation actually brings us back to the issue of updating the key part of the M-14 highway. Such initiatives accelerate the implementation of our main goal – a large-scale renovation of Ukrainian roads of national importance,” Head of Ukravtodor Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

In addition, he noted the positive experience of Turkish companies, which will be useful for Ukraine.

According to the report, Cengiz has been operating in the market since the 1970s and among its building cases are six airports (in particular, international airports in Istanbul and Kuwait), 12 dams, more than 1,200 0 km of roads.

“The Nova Kakhovka-Mariupol route is the main transport artery of the southern region of the country in the West-East direction and an important route for many tourists traveling to the resorts of the Sea of Azov. Due to non-observance of the overhaul periods, the road “clothing” requires restoration along the entire length of the route,” the representative of Cengiz board Mohamed Cengiz.
