“Agreements have been reached on active coordination, including with newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron. We are sure: there is no alternative to the Minsk process, but the “Normandy format” will also be actively engaged in the near future,” Poroshenko said in a video address posted on his Facebook page on Saturday evening after his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Germany.

“In addition, we’ve agreed that if the Minsk agreements are not implemented, EU sanctions (against Russia) will most probably be extended. It is very important that the meeting took place pending the G7 summit, where the question of Ukraine will top the agenda in Sicily (Italy), and this issue will also be addressed at the G20 summit,” he said.
