The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, on May 17 voted to raise the duty on scrap metal exports to 42 euro per tonne from 30 euro per tonne.
Respective bill No. 8226 amending some laws of Ukraine to reduce a deficit of ferrous scrap metal on the domestic market passed its first reading with 248 lawmakers’ votes in its favor. The required minimum is 226 votes.
