Highly educated people were most actively fleeing the Russia-annexed Crimea and occupied areas in Donbas in eastern Ukraine amid Russian aggression, according to a recent demographic research.

“Highly educated people were most actively leaving the uncontrolled areas. Almost 50 percent of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) have higher or incomplete higher education,” leading research officer of Ptukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies under the Institute of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, analyst Anna Gvelesiani said while presenting the research titled “The Position of Internally Displaced Persons and their Integration into Hosting Communities.”
