Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has released audio tapes used as evidence in a criminal case against chief of the Luhansk separatists Igor Plotnitsky and two separatists commanders in Donbas, who are charged with the downing of a Ukrainian Il-76 military transport plane in 2014.

SBU said on Feb. 6 it received proof that Plotnitsky, who then was a commander of the Zarya illegal armed formation, together with [Andrey] Patrushev (Plotnitsky’s deputy at the moment) and commander of the Vityaz illegal armed formation [Alexander] Gureyev “were the mastermind behind the terrorist act.”
