You're reading: US Army Secretary Mark Esper inspects military training at Yavoriv

U.S. Army Secretary Mark Esper with his wife Lia Esper have traveled to the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security in Yavoriv district, Lviv region, where he familiarized himself with details of organizing the process of training Ukrainian soldiers under foreign and Ukrainian instructors.

According to the website of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, the head of the National Academy of Land Forces Pavlo Tkachuk told the guests about changes made to the training grounds and highly praised American military instructors.

“Thanks to close cooperation and support of our American colleagues, we have been able to build this training area and equip the center with the latest technology. We are pleased to be able to use the base for the past 90 months so that Ukrainian soldiers can receive knowledge and practical experience,” Tkachuk said.

The foreign guests were interested in the center’s capabilities to model warfare and equip units. During the visit, they acquainted themselves with the infrastructure of the training center.
