The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine expects a quick and transparent investigation into the attack on Odesa activist Oleg Mykhailyk and other similar cases.

“We are deeply concerned about the Sept. 22 attack on Odessa civic activist Oleg Mykhailyk. Such attacks are becoming all too common and must stop. He and the people of Ukraine deserve a quick, transparent, and thorough investigation,” the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine said on Twitter.

As earlier reported, on September 22 unidentified persons attacked the activist, who head “The Strength of People” organization in Odesa. Mykhailyk was hospitalized at the Yevreiska Hospital (Jewish Hospital) in Odesa.

Police have opened a criminal case under Article 15 and Article 115 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code (premeditated murder). The investigation does not name the main version of the crime. All versions are being considered – from domestic homicide to those that may be related to the public activities of Mykhailyk.
