You're reading: US imposes sanctions against two Ukrainian airlines

The United States has included the Ukrainian airlines Dart and Khors in the list of anti-Iran sanctions.

According to a report on the website of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, such a measure was applied because these carriers cooperated with the airlines Caspian Air and Al-Naser Airlines by providing them with aircraft and services (wet leasing).

Caspian Air was sanctioned in view of the support of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps by transporting personnel and illegal materials, including weapons, from Iran to Syria. Al-Naser airline got under them because of the transfer of at least eight Airbus A340s and one Airbus A320 aircraft to Iran’s Mahan Air, which, in turn, was sanctioned for providing financial, material and technological support to the said corps.

As reported, in May the European Commission included Ukrainian airline Urga (Kropyvnytsky) in the so called “black list” of airlines that do not meet international safety standards and are not allowed to operate within the EU.
