U.S. colleagues have shared with teachers from the Academy of Patrol Police of Ukraine the experience and practice of work of the police, in particular, methods of de-escalating the situation, conducting a superficial check, physical detention, work with weapons and special means, as well as checking the premises, the media liaisons department of the National Police of Ukraine has reported.

According to the head of the cycle of tactical fire and physical training of the Academy of Patrol Police, Oleh Horoshochek, teachers of the academy are professionals who have experience of work in both patrol police and teaching.

“We have very similar techniques with our American colleagues, which we mastered during initial training. We have our own developments during the existence of the patrol police, so this training is an improvement of our skills, let’s say, one more look at the situation,” Horoshochek said.

The report says that colleagues from the Houston Police Academy transferred their experience to Ukrainian instructors.

Following the trainings, the teaching staff of the academy expressed gratitude to representatives of the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) for the opportunity to adopt the experience and integrate it into daily activities of Ukrainian police officers.
