You're reading: US strategic drone conducts operational surveillance over Donbas

A strategic unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the U.S. Air Force RQ-4A Global Hawk with code number UAVGH000 made a long reconnaissance flight along the line of demarcation in Donbas on July 20, western sites, monitoring the movements of military aircraft, reported.

During the flight, the U.S. long-distance drone was flying from north to south along the entire line of demarcation. The scout made at least five spans at a slight distance to the west at an altitude of about 16,000 meters. Over the Luhansk region, it also twice approached a distance of about 40 kilometers to the Russian border in Belgorod and Voronezh regions.

Taking into account the possibilities of conducting reconnaissance to a depth of up to 300 km, the RQ-4A drone of Global Hawk could observe the entire temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as the border regions of Russia.

According to open sources, the device can patrol for 30 hours, being at an altitude from 15,000 to 18,000 meters.

This has been the second flight of this U.S. drone in Donbas since July 16.
