A taxi driver in Kyiv stabbed a U.S. citizen for defending Ukraine and Georgia in a dispute on Aug. 1, KyivOperativ, a Facebook community that reports incidents in Kyiv, reported.
According to the source, the driver of the Bolt taxi service got into an argument with the U.S. citizen in the Pecherskyi district of Kyiv. The driver insulted Ukraine and Georgia and the passenger started to argue with him.
In response to the passenger’s comments, the driver started a fight and stabbed the passenger in the thigh. The victim was urgently taken to the hospital. The current condition of the victim is unknown.
The police intercepted the driver near Vokzalna Square. After officers noticed the knife covered with blood in the driver’s cabin, they detained the driver and brought him to a local police station.
The prosecutors of the Pechersk District Prosecutor’s Office have already prepared a suspicion of criminal offense for the detainee. A petition for detention of the detainee has also been filed.
This is not the first time aggressive Bolt taxi service drivers have been a part of hazardous conflicts in Ukraine.
On July 5, a driver kicked a passenger out of a car and hit her in the face. The alleged reason was that the passenger remarked to the driver that he had picked her up 100 meters away from her destination.
Earlier on June 4, the driver of the same taxi service threatened a passenger with a child and pepper sprayed her twice. It was reported that Bolt’s support service hadn’t answered the passenger’s calls.
