AVDIyIVKA, Ukraine – Residents of this eastern Ukraine city were restoring basic services on Feb. 6 after suffering some of the worst fighting in recent months since the outbreak of a Russian-backed separatism in 2014.
“I laid on the couch at home, without water, just shaking,” said Valeria Apatova, 32, mimicking how she trembled during recent artillery barrages as separatists battled Ukrainian national troops.
