Ukraine is beginning discussions on a membership action plan with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced July 10.

NATO has had a partnership with Ukraine for over 20 years. Ukraine is one of the biggest beneficiaries of NATO Trust Funds. The funds have paid for various projects including financial support for political and security sector reforms, help with cyber defence and medical rehabilitation for Ukrainian soldiers.
