BRUSSELS – The European Union has reached a deal allowing the bloc to more easily suspend visa-free access agreements they offer other countries, unblocking the way for new visa deals with Ukraine and Georgia.

The move came as there was fresh pressure in the Netherlands for Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s government to ratify a broad EU economic and trade pact with Ukraine. The Netherlands is the last country to ratify the agreement, a priority of Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko’s government and fiercely opposed by Russia.
