You're reading: Was genocide in Ukraine planned by Russia in advance?

The Russian invaders apparently began preparing a mass grave in Bucha as early as March 10.

Reuters has reported this, citing satellite images. They show that a mass grave near the local church appeared in March when the town was already under Russian occupation.

Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to President Zelensky, believes that the mobile crematoriums carried by the Russian military were intended for a planned genocide of Ukrainians. After launching his assault on Ukraine on Fe. 24, Russian president Vladimir Putin expected to control Kyiv within two to three days without serious military resistance, which means that crematoriums were not for casualties of the Russian army.

At the moment, 410 civilian casualties have been officially recorded in Bucha.
