Ukraine and Russia reached a five-year agreement on a gas transit contract. Russia will pay the $2.9 billion it owes to Ukraine, while Ukraine will withdraw its $12.5 billion claim against Russia’s state gas company Gazprom.

U.S. sanctions against Nord Stream 2 were signed into law on Friday, followed shortly by the pipeline’s main contractor suspending work on the project.

Law enforcers searched Petro Poroshenko’s party’s headquarters and  a gym owned by Poroshenko and his political and business associate, Ihor Kononenko. The gym was found to have recording devices embedded in its smoke detectors and alarms.
