You're reading: White House: Trump and NATO Secretary General discuss cooperation and Ukraine

WASHINGTON – In a telephone conversation, U.S. President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussed issues related to cooperation within NATO and the Ukrainian crisis, the White House said.

The report says that the sides touched upon the issue of the U.S. policy towards NATO. Trump expressed strong support of the alliance, as well as his readiness for close coordination and cooperation to confront the challenges it faces.

However, Trump and Stoltenberg also talked about how to ensure that all unit-member countries to fulfill their obligations in the area of finance.
Trump confirmed that he will participate in the meeting of European leaders of NATO member countries, scheduled for the end of May this year.

During their conversation, Trump and Stoltenberg also discussed the issues concerning the situation in Ukraine and the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict along the Ukrainian border, the White House said.
