Newly elected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Hungarian President Janos Ader have met in Kyiv to discuss bilateral cooperation in exerting international pressure on the Russian Federation.

“The head of state said that Russia’s aggression in the east [of Ukraine] and Russia’s occupation of Crimea need the international pressure on Russia to be continued,” the Ukrainian presidential press service said in a statement.

Zelenskiy added that he hoped for Budapest to resume supporting Ukraine’s aspirations for EU and NATO integration.

He also stressed the importance of practical steps in the economy, infrastructure development, the social sphere, and cross-border cooperation, which would help bring Ukraine and Hungary closer together and show a mutually beneficial, real result of interaction.
