Ukrainian President-elect Volodymyr Zelenskiy has invited fellow-Ukrainians to meet at Kyiv’s Mariyinsky Park on the morning of May 20 from where he would go to the Verkhovna Rada’s building located nearby to attend his inauguration ceremony.

“Dear Ukrainians! I would like very much to take the presidential oath in front of you, looking into the people’s eyes. But, unfortunately, in line with the procedural regulations, this will take place at the Verkhovna Rada hall, before parliamentarians. I invite everyone to Maryinsky Park on the morning of May 20, from where I will go to the Verkhovna Rada,” Zelenskiy said on Facebook on May 18 evening.

Giant screens broadcasting the inauguration ceremony will be installed at Maryinsky Park, he said.

“You will be able to see my oath to you there, on giant screens. Feel that you are near,” Zelenskiy said.

It had been reported earlier that the Verkhovna Rada would gather for a ceremony to put Zelenskiy under oath at its session hall at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20.
