Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili have met at the former’s administration building to discuss the development of relations and deeper strategic partnership between two countries.

Zelenskiy told of his priorities as president, the Ukrainian presidential website said.

“Why has our team gone into politics? Our number one challenge is to cease fire in the east where our people get killed daily,” Zelenskiy said.

Ukraine will pursue the consistent foreign policy to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity and further to develop its European and Euro-Atlantic integration, he said.

Another challenge is to defeat corruption and “in this issue Georgia’s experience is an example for us,” Zelenskiy said.

The two officials also discussed the direction of the development of Ukrainian-Georgian relationship and expressed confidence that their strategic partnership will further deepen.

Zourabichvili invited Zelenskiy to pay an official visit to Georgia, the Ukrainian presidential website said.

She also wished him successes in the country’s top job.

“All of us are facing yet another challenge: the elections to the European parliament. Ukraine and Georgia must unite their positions regarding their course towards European integration and NATO membership,” Zourabichvili said.
