Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hopes that the United States will increase its financial aid to boost Ukraine’s security.

At a meeting with U.S. senators Ronald Johnson and Christopher Murphy on Sept. 6, the head of state expressed his gratitude to the U.S. lawmakers for their active stance on the need to continue to provide Ukraine with security assistance, and his hope that this aid would increase, the president’s press service said.

Zelensky noted the strong support for Ukraine from both houses of U.S. Congress and thanked the senators, who are members of the Senate Ukraine Caucus, for their personal contribution in forming such support.

“I want to thank our strategic partner, the U.S., for its constant support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

He also noted the consistent U.S. policy of sanctions against Russia and drew attention to the Russian passport issuance to Ukrainians in Donbas and the need for an adequate response.
