You're reading: Zelensky meets with Sandu in Chisinau

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met in Chisinau with President of Moldova Maia Sandu, the presidential press service said.

The presidents discussed the prospects for trade and economic cooperation, the implementation of infrastructure projects.

“Relations between Ukraine and Moldova have great potential, and today we need to maximize our efforts to use it,” Zelensky said.

It is reported that Sandu, Zelensky positively assessed the work done within the project for the construction of a border bridge crossing over Dniester on the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border.

In addition, the presidents discussed the return of Ukrainian energy companies to the Moldovan electricity supply market.

Zelensky also thanked Sandu for participating in the Crimean Platform summit and joining its declaration.

“As before, Ukraine and Moldova mutually support each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders. Your personal participation in the Crimean Platform summit has once again confirmed this position and showed our common desire to resist external pressure,” he said.

The leaders stressed the need for further close cooperation in the Associated Trio format to deepen political association and economic integration with the EU, as stipulated by the relevant association agreements, as well as to promote new opportunities within the Eastern Partnership.

“We believe that we cannot have any questions of our friendly relations,” Zelensky said.
