President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena paid tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack which took place in New York on September 11, 2001, the presidential press service has reported.

“The Head of State laid flowers to the 9/11 Memorial. The President and his wife installed a Ukrainian flag on the Memorial,” the official Presidential Office’s website said on Sept. 27 evening.

The presidential couple spoke with a sister and best friend of Ivan Skala, a Ukrainian-born man who died heroically during the 9/11 terrorist attack. He worked as a firefighter in New York and volunteered to save the lives of people during terrorist attacks on that tragic day, on September 11, 2001.
