During a working visit to Georgia to take part in the Batumi International Conference, Presidents of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, met with President of the European Council Charles Michel and discussed a number of initiatives to develop cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, the presidential press service said.

“Volodymyr Zelensky and Charles Michel discussed the preparations for the Ukraine-European Union summit, which is scheduled for October this year,” the office said.

Zelensky also suggested considering a number of initiatives for the development of practical cooperation between the states of the Associated Trio (Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova) and the EU, which should bring citizens and business representatives. In particular, this applies to the implementation of joint infrastructure projects, interaction in the field of transport, energy, health, security and defense, the digital market and trade.

The head of state thanked the President of the European Council for his support in holding the first meeting in the EU and Associated Trio format at the highest level and for his readiness to promote further rapprochement of the associated partners with the European Union.

“It is very important that you were present at this meeting. Our peoples deserve a European perspective, given, in particular, that the volume of obligations of our three states under association deals can be compared with the obligations of the current candidate countries for EU membership,” the President of Ukraine said.
