President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has said that nobody can put pressure on him as a leader of an independent state, and he is not going to get involved into the elections in another states.

“Independence is a very important argument for every democratic country. And I do not want any of my answers to be aimed at involving us to the elections in another country, with any outcome. I do not want to do this. And so I said that no one can put pressure on me, and no one will,” he told the journalists in New York following the outcomes of his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Zelensky stressed that he was open at his post as president of Ukraine. “Please, publish all the calls. Although I personally think that such conversations between the heads and presidents of independent countries should not be published, because sometimes, you know, there are geopolitics, some plans. But I’m not afraid, you see everything by yourself,” he said.

According to Zelensky, he expected that White House would publish just a part of the transcript of his telephone talk with Trump on July 25, though sees no problem with this.

The Ukrainian leader also said that in regard of this situation he became popular in the United States during his working visit, but for him the main thing is not that popularity, and he wants to be needed, first of all, to Ukraine.
