President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on amending some legislative acts of Ukraine regarding social protection of persons with disabilities No. 1665-IX, which the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted on July 15, the presidential press service said on July 29.

“The document will contribute to the realization of the rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities in accordance with the requirements of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Thus, the law prescribes the procedure for providing persons with disabilities with housing that is adapted to their needs. In particular, this can occur by replacing housing in which a person with a disability lives through an exchange on the terms of employment,” the office said.

It is noted that it is also possible to provide a person with a disability with adapted housing if he transfers the premises that belong to him to the ownership of the territorial community.

“At the same time, housing provided to such a person as a result of replacement must meet the requirements of unhindered access and be adapted to his needs,” the President’s Office said.

They said the procedure for replacing housing (residential premises) is approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The law comes into force on the day after its publication and comes into force upon the expiration of six months from the date of entry into force.
