Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s first aide Serhiy Shefir was not injured in the assassination attempt staged on him on Sept. 22 morning, he is now in a safe place, but in a state of shock, Servant of the People faction leader David Arakhamia said.

“I talked to Mr. Shefir about 20 minutes ago. He was on his way to work. He drives himself half the time and half the time he travels with a chauffeur. The driver sustained three gunshot wounds and was hospitalized. Serhiy himself is fine. Everything is normal. He is safe and sound. The police put him in a service vehicle and took him to a safe place,” Arakhamia told reporters in the Verkhovna Rada building.

However, Shefir is currently in a state of shock, he said.

“He is in a state of shock… He believes that the attackers fired at him, but hit the driver,” Arakhamia said.

There are many CCTV cameras along the road where the assassination attempt took place, and “there will be a lot of video footage from the scene in the near future,” the parliamentarian said.
