You're reading: Zelensky’s remarks on anniversary of start of EuroMaidan Revolution

Editor’s Note: The following remarks were made on Nov. 21 by President Volodymyr Zelensky to commemorate the anniversaries of the start of the EuroMaidan Revolution in 2013, which ousted President Viktor Yanukovych, and the Orange Revolution in 2004, which prevented Yanukovych from coming to power in a rigged presidential vote, leading to the election of President Viktor Yushchenko.

Today we celebrate the Day of Dignity and Freedom. A special day associated with the beginning of two revolutions. Both they and the Student Revolution on Granite, the 30th anniversary of which was celebrated on Oct. 2, prove one truth: in crucial times of history, the Ukrainian people, not politicians, will always have the final word.
