U.S. President Joe Biden has pledged to purchase and donate 500 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to 92 countries around the world to counter the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Today, I’m announcing that the United States will donate half a billion new Pfizer vaccines to 92 low- and lower-middle-income countries,” President Biden’s official Twitter page reads.

These Pfizer vaccines will save millions of lives around the world, and be produced through the power of American manufacturing, it says.

Biden said during his briefing in the UK that the United States would become an arsenal of vaccines against the coronavirus.

“America will be the arsenal of vaccines in our global fight against the COVID-19 just as America was the arsenal of democracy during World War II,” Biden said.
