You're reading: French prosecutors to appeal court decision permitting DPR office in Marseille

Ukraine’s Ambassador to France Oleh Shamshur has said he is disappointed by the decision of the court in the French city of Aix-en-Provence not to close the so-called “representation office” of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) in Marseilles. He said he expects French prosecutors to appeal the ruling.

“We are deeply disappointed by the court decision on the DPR’s representative office in France and we count French prosecutors to appeal. The activities of terrorist DPR in France must be stopped,” the diplomat wrote on Twitter on Sept. 6.

In September 2017, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said France’s Foreign Ministry had appealed to French prosecutors to investigate the opening of a DPR office in Marseille. But an Aix-en-Provence court had rejected the government’s case for closing the center.
