The government has published its bill to trigger article 50, shortly after announcing that MPs will get just five days to debate and scrutinise the measure that will trigger Britain’s departure from the EU.

The bill contains just two clauses and is 137 words long. It was devised after the government this week lost its supreme court case on whether it could trigger article 50 without the approval of parliament.
