You're reading: Moldova records 188 new COVID-19 cases

CHISINAU – Moldova has registered 188 new coronavirus infections and six deaths, the Moldovan Ministry of Health, Labor, and Social Protection said in a statement on May 28.

“On Thursday, 1,445 tests were carried out, including 1,231 first-time tests. A total of 188 tests were positive. In all, 7,725 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19. In the past 24 hours, there have been 148 discharges from hospital. The number of recoveries has reached 4,123,” the statement said.

Two people died overnight, and another six (three men aged 58, 60, and 75, and three women aged 65, 78, and 82) died this afternoon; all had underlying chronic illnesses. The total death toll from coronavirus stands at 282, the statement said.

Transdniestria has recorded 964 coronavirus infections, 516 recoveries, and 37 deaths; one person died today, the Covid-19 emergency headquarters said. Of the 188 cases confirmed on May 28, 23 were in Transdniestria, it said.
