You're reading: Moldova records 86 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

CHISINAU – Moldova has registered 86 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the past 24 hours, the total now stands at 591, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbraveanu said.

“Four hundred nineteen coronavirus tests have been carried out in the past 24 hours. In 86 of them the results were positive. Of these 86 cases, only seven were confirmed in citizens who arrived from abroad, the rest were infected inside the country,” Dumbraveanu said after a daily meeting of the “crisis cell” on April 3.

Of the latest infections, Chisinau has the most, 33, and four have been confirmed in Transdniestria, bringing the region’s total to 36 cases, she said.

“[A total of] 3,376 tests have been carried out since the first infection was registered on March 7. The total number of people infected stands at 591, six of them died and 28 made a full recovery,” Dumbraveanu said.
