Moldovan President Igor Dodon has confirmed that his meeting with Transdniestrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky will take place in the presidential country retreat in Holercani, 20 kilometers from Chisinau, on March 30.

“We’ve already held a meeting on January 4. We’ve already determined eight issues on resolving which we will focus our efforts. There are four issues suggested by Tiraspol and four issues specified by us. This formula was agreed upon with participants in the negotiations in the ‘5+2’ format, we will move in that direction,” Dodon said on March 28.

During the upcoming meeting with Krasnoselsky, the issue of setting up Moldova’s and Ukraine’s joint customs and border checkpoints at the Transdniestrian sector of the border will be discussed, he said.

“We are aware that Tiraspol is opposing this initiative. We have suggestions and I hope we will be able to find a mutually acceptable solution to this issue,” Dodon said.

He also said he insisted on adopting Chisinau’s common stance on the issue.

“We have some differences with the prime minister and the speaker of the parliament. But on this matter, on the issue of the reintegration of the country, it is necessary to develop a common stance, a common platform to formulate proposals for the resolution of the Transdniestrian issue,” Dodon said.
