You're reading: Mueller delivers strong results in Russia probe

Robert Mueller, who was appointed as special counsel for the United States Department of Justice in May 2017, has had much more success than Ukrainian prosecutors have ever had.

Mueller heads an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, but has already uncovered many other crimes while conducting the probe.

Below is a list of his achievements:

George Papadopoulos, adviser to the Trump campaign
Pleaded guilty on Oct. 5, 2017 to false statements.

Rick Gates, adviser to the Trump campaign
Pleaded guilty on Feb. 23, 2018 to conspiracy against the United States and false statements.

Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign manager
Charged with conspiracy against the United States, conspiracy to launder money, not registering as a foreign agent, making false and misleading Foreign Agents Registration Act statements, and false statements, assisting in the preparation of false tax returns, filing a false amended return, failure to report foreign bank and financial accounts, bank fraud conspiracy and bank fraud.

Michael Flynn, former U.S. national security advisor
Pleaded guilty on Dec. 1, 2017 to false statements.

Richard Pinedo, head of the Auction Essistance online service
Pleaded guilty on Feb. 2, 2018 to identity fraud.

Alex van der Zwaan, former lawyer at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom
Sentenced to 30 days in prison and a $20,000 fine on April 3, 2018.

Russians
Twelve Russians, including businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, were charged in February 2018 with conspiracy to defraud the United States, aggravated identity theft, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud.
