BERLIN — The authorities of the United States and Poland have been working not to allow for the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said.

Bloomberg says he made this statement during his visit to Poland.

The statement followed a decision made by the European Commission earlier in February to begin revising the European gas directive. Initially, it was thought that this procedure could hinder the implementation of Nord Stream 2. However, as a result, France and Germany arrived at a compromise proposal, which, on the one hand, should allow Europe to control the operation of gas pipelines more closely, and on the other, not hinder the implementation of Nord Stream 2.
