Global confidence in Russian President Vladimir Putin has fallen through the floor, according to data from Pew Research.
The Spring 2022 Global Attitudes Survey, spanning 18 countries, found that 90% of respondents do not believe in Putin’s ability to do the right thing in international affairs.
Putin scored his lowest rating in Poland, where only 2% of respondents trust his policies. In Sweden, Spain and South Korea the Russian president scored 5% or less; while in the U.S., Japan, Australia and the U.K. less than 10%.

In a 2003 survey, three quarters of Germans voiced confidence in Putin, while Americans were more divided in their views (47% expressed no confidence and 41% confidence).
Since then, he has received mostly negative marks, and his ratings are now at all-time lows in every country where trend data are available.
In the U.S., the partisan divide in people’s trust in Putin that was seen during Donald Trump’s administration has narrowed, with overwhelming majorities of both Democrats and Republicans now lacking trust in the Russian president.
